The Reserve 40|44 is the all-day road wheelset in the range, and it's the set Visma-Lease a Bike riders do most of their training on. It suits riders who want an aero gain on a wheel they can leave on the bike year-round rather than saving for race day.

The front rim is shallower and wider at 40mm, the rear taller and narrower at 44mm, which is Reserve reading the different jobs the two ends actually do. The front stays settled when the wind comes across while the rear carries the aero. Internal widths are 25.5mm front and 25mm rear, so anything from 28 to 40mm sits properly on the bead, and Reserve reinforce the rim internally around each spoke hole where the load concentrates. The DT Swiss 350 hub is the sensible pick, with a 36 tooth ratchet and parts any workshop can get hold of.
