The Bontrager Bat Cage is one of the oldest products Bontrager still makes, and it has stayed in the range because a simple cage that holds a bottle over rough ground is hard to improve on. It suits cyclocross, gravel and mountain biking, where losing a bottle is a real problem rather than a theoretical one.

It is now moulded from recycled fishing net, sourced from ocean nets collected in Chile. Fishing nets make up an estimated 10% of ocean plastic and do disproportionate damage, so there is a reasonable argument behind it rather than just a sticker. The cage itself is unchanged: light, durable plastic with enough grip to hold a bottle through a rock garden.
