Trek Madone SL
Madone Gen 8 is the bike that ended the argument between light and fast. Trek merged the Madone and the Emonda into a single race platform, and the SL brings that same shape to a price that makes sense for riders who are not on a World Tour contract.
The 500 Series OCLV Carbon frame carries the full Gen 8 design: the Full System Foil tube shapes, the revised IsoFlow cutout for compliance at the seat tube, and the size-specific tube profiles that keep a large frame riding like a small one. The two-piece bar and stem is a deliberate choice over the SLR's integrated cockpit, and a welcome one, because fit changes take minutes rather than a workshop visit.
Three builds, all on the same frame. The SL 7 runs Ultegra Di2 and Aeolus Pro 51 carbon wheels. The SL 6 steps to 105 Di2 with Aeolus Elite 50 carbon. The SL 5 is mechanical 105 on Paradigm alloy, and it is the one we point most first-time carbon buyers toward.
