Cervélo Áspero

The gravel bike we point most people at. It has the range the Áspero-5 does not, from an alloy-wheeled GRX build up to Di2 with carbon, and the threaded bottom bracket means we can service it without special tools. If you want to race the front of a gravel field, the Áspero-5 is faster. For everything else this is the better buy.

Cervélo Áspero

The Áspero is Cervélo's gravel race bike, built for speed on dirt rather than hauling gear. It arrived in 2019 and changed what a gravel bike was expected to do, and the current version keeps that brief while fixing the things riders asked about. Sizes 48 to 61 in Black and Charcoal or Marigold.

The bottom bracket is now an asymmetric T47a threaded shell, first used on the R5-CX, which gives the stiffness of BBRight in a form you can service at home. The derailleur hanger follows SRAM's UDH standard, so Transmission drivetrains bolt straight on. The seat stays are dropped for compliance at the back and the front end is slightly less stiff, both aimed at the last hours of a long race rather than the first. There is more mud clearance than before, a lesson from Unbound in 2023. Bearing dimensions match the R5, Soloist, R5-CX and Caledonia, so you can run the ST31 stem and HB13 bar for a fully internal front end if you want one.
